Ken Garff History
Ken Garff founded his business in 1932 upon the principles
of honesty, integrity, personalized customer service, and being a good
corporate citizen. These ideals fueled Ken's success as he
earned new car franchises such as Oldsmobile and Studebaker.
| In his early days, Ken Garff was an attendant at a small Shell service station on 5th South and State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Shell station exploded one day while Ken was outside at the pumps helping a customer. While Shell was reconstructing the building, Ken began to sell used cars to keep himself occupied. When Shell completed their new building they gave Ken an ultimatum, "If you want to keep working for us, you need to stop selling cars." It was too late. Ken had discovered the car business and was not turning back! |  |
 | Today, the Ken Garff Automotive Group is associated with 34 new car franchises, three used car stores and five collision repair centers located throughout Utah, and most recently acquiring stores in Texas, Indiana, Iowa, and California. The Ken Garff Automotive Group also has business interests in insurance, warranties, sports apparel and arena football. Despite our growth, the original principles still hold true. In 2007, we were again voted "Best of State" for the third year in a row by the Best of State Organization. |
The Ken Garff Automotive Group believes in giving back to the communities in which it serves. Since Ken founded his business over 78 years ago, the company has given millions of dollars and thousands of hours to schools, charities and community organizations. We also provide educational incentives to youth and give to those that sacrifice their lives and time by serving in the military.
